Spatial Analysis Tools for Environmental Risk Assessment
CropLife America
2005 - 2010
Stone used VB.NET to develop a powerful, user-friendly set of tools for our client to conduct efficient and consistent
spatial analysis of environmental datasets. The GeoSTAC tools and data are available as a free
download.

Pre-Serve: A Web-Based Mapping System for Pesticide Mitigation
Monsanto Company
2008 - 2010
Stone worked with Monsanto to design and build Pre-Serve,
a web site to protect threatened and endangered plant species from potential impacts resulting from the agricultural use of
herbicides that contain glyphosate.

Vermont Compost & Biogas Information System and Data Viewer
Central Vermont Solid Waste Management District
2008 - 2010
As a result of two grants in 2008 that funded an extension of the CVSWMD's regional work to the entire state, Stone
designed and built the web-based Vermont Compost/Biogas Data Viewer.

Automated Field Data Collection in Vermont
Vermont Agency of Natural Resources
2008 - 2010
Stone teamed with IT consulting firm Competitive Computing (C2)
to provide automated field data collection solutions for seven fieldwork programs of Vermont's Agency of Natural Resources.
The automated process will improve the reliability of field data collection and allow agency staff to conduct real-time
analyses of the quality of Vermont's rivers, lakes, and wetlands.
Data Inventory ArcPad Application for an Integrated Water Resources Management Program
Town of Colchester, Vermont
2009
Stone designed and built an ArcPad data collection application to aid in a townwide inventory of private water supply
systems and stormwater systems for the Town of Colchester as part of the town's Integrated Water Resources Management
Program.
APEX Model Interface Development
Grassland, Soil, and Water Research Laboratory, USDA-ARS
2008-2010
Stone developed an ArcGIS interface to carry out GIS parameterization of the APEX (Agricultural Policy/Environmental eXtender)
model that allows both standalone APEX model applications and integrated SWAT/APEX model applications. The model permits
evaluation of interactions between farm fields or watersheds for surface run-on, sediment deposition and degradation,
nutrient and pesticide transport, and subsurface flow.
ALMANAC Model Database and Graphical User Interface
Grassland, Soil, and Water Research Laboratory, USDA-ARS
2008-2010
Stone developed a database and graphical user interface to the ALMANAC (Agricultural Land Management Alternatives with
Numerical Assessment Criteria) model. This field-scale crop growth model simulates a wide range of plant species and
simulates competition among species. The new interface migrated the functionality of the old UTIL program from a DOS
environment to a Windows-based graphical user interface, and added some new capabilities for editing and managing
ALMANAC datasets and databases.

ArcGIS v.9.x Interface to SWAT
Spatial Sciences Laboratory, Texas A&M University
Ongoing since 2005
Stone developed and programmed a user-friendly ArcGIS v.9 interface for the Soil and Water Assessment Tool (SWAT) watershed model.
Integrated Wastewater Information Management System
City of Malibu Environmental and
Building Safety Division
Ongoing since 2001
Stone developed a web-based database and GIS application to assist the City of Malibu in administering onsite wastewater
management systems located within the city.

Geobase and Data Viewer for Holloman AFB
Bhate Associates, Inc.
2007-2008
Stone developed a web-based contaminated site monitoring information system built on Holloman AFB's GeoBase information system. The
interactive website allows users to drill down into information and retrieve facility drawings and monitoring data.
Vermont Well Interference
Vermont Rural Water Association
2008-2009
Stone developed a backend database to store pump test data for community water supplies in Vermont in order to determine the
degree and extent of groundwater interference. Upon completion of the data compilation, Stone developed a Map Atlas
illustrating wells with interfence.
Spatial Analysis
Watershed Modeling
Woodard & Curran
2007 - 2008
Stone used a hydrologic model to characterize nitrogen inputs to two estuaries in the towns of South Kingstown and
Charlestown, Rhode Island. Stone also conducted a field investigation to characterize the effectiveness of a nitrogen
treatment trench installed near the shore of one estuary pond using a groundwater profiling method to measure groundwater
quality parameters.
Visualization Analysis of Wind Towers in Jordanville, NY
Otsego 2000
2006 - 2007
Stone conducted an extensive GIS-based visualization assessment of 68 wind towers in Jordanville, New York, using viewshed
analyses, photomontage, and statistical analysis of visibility for important historic landscapes.

Visualization Analysis of Wind Towers in Kibby Mountain, ME
Jean Vissering Landscape Architect
Ongoing since 2006
Stone conducted an extensive GIS-based visualization assessment of 48 wind towers and transmission line using viewshed
analyses, photomontage, and statistical analysis of visibility for important environmental landscapes.

Central Vermont Solid Waste Management District
2008 - 2010
As a result of two grants in 2008 that funded an extension of the CVSWMD's regional work to the entire state, Stone
designed and built the web-based Vermont Compost/Biogas Data Viewer.

Operation and Maintenance at the Silresim Superfund Site
Watermark Environmental
2002 - 2008
Stone fields a multidisciplinary team that provides soil coring and onsite laboratory services in the investigation of a
complex source area at the Silresim Superfund site in Lowell, Massachusetts.
Due Diligence and Environmental Consulting Services
Northern Power Systems
2005 - 2006
Stone provided a variety of environmental consulting services to Northern Power Systems, including Phase I and II
Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs), environmental compliance assessment, Environmental Baseline Survey (EBS) and
stormwater permitting support.

Data and Program Support Services for Ecosystem-Based Management Program
New York Department of State
Ongoing since 2007
Stone provided GIS support to New York State's efforts to initiate a New York State Ecosystem-Based Management (EBM)
Program. We developed a catalog of NYS oceans and Great Lakes GIS databases and compiled them in a MS Access database.
We then collected and compiled metadata for the existing GIS data into one location and identified data gaps. We also
developed recommendations for data access strategies and the use of the data in mapping and application efforts. We
continue to provide additional GIS support tasks.

Data Network Discoverability and Metadata Development
Massachusetts Ocean Partnership (MOP)
2008 - 2009
Stone created a Massachusetts Ocean Data Portal on the NASA Global Change Master Directory (GCMD) that will provide access
to all data and reports for Massachusetts ocean and coastal areas. As part of this project, Stone is assisting MOP in
identifying and implementing other opportunities to increase metadata discoverability to Massachusetts ocean and coastal
data, and providing general assistance for MORIS coastal/ocean metadata creation.
