Presentations and Posters

Planning for Wind Energy: GIS-Powered Visual Impact Assessments. Awardwinning poster presented by Nicholas Floersch at the Northeast Arc Users Group (NEARC) 22nd Annual Conference, Burlington, Vermont, November 4-7, 2007. Using projects in New York and Maine, the poster demonstrates what sorts of simulations to support a visual impact assessment can be created using spatial data and a GIS. In doing so, the poster shows how a GIS can be used to help landscape architects, developers, and opponents find a middle ground on where to place the wind farms that will power our future.
