Mohawk River Watershed Management Plan Implementation Tracking Application

This case study describes how Stone worked with the Mohawk River Watershed coalition to compile, develop, illustrate and host 58 GIS datasets for the Mohawk River watershed, including tools to view and use the data.

The Mohawk River Watershed Coalition is made up of 14 New York soil and water conservation districts encompassing 228 towns. In 2012 Stone worked with the Coalition to compile, develop, illustrate and host 58 GIS datasets for the Mohawk River watershed, including ecological, social, and economic information. Additionally, we developed tools for the Coalition to view and use the data in characterizing the watershed. The Mohawk River Watershed Web Map was originally used by coalition members to draft the Mohawk River Watershed Management Plan and develop data-driven watershed management recommendations and strategies. In 2014, Stone expanded the App with a secure, user updatable application that tracks implementation of watershed management recommendations and implementation strategies outlined in the management plan.
