APCOAT Example Case Study

Village Wastewater Disposal Evaluations and Permitting Support, Montgomery, Vermont

Stone is providing technical assistance to Hoyle, Tanner and the Stercus Committee as they advance planning and design of community wastewater systems to serve the villages of Montgomery and Montgomery Center, Vermont.

Wolcott, Vermont Wastewater Feasibility Study and Village Solutions

In 2003-2005, the Town of Wolcott hired Stone and an engineering partner to conduct a wastewater feasibility study for the Villages of Wolcott and North Wolcott. Stone performed a detailed evaluation of the existing onsite wastewater treatment systems to determine each system’s present condition and ability to be replaced onsite, as well as identified properties that would potentially benefit from connection to an off-site system.

Testing for Polychlorinated Biphenyls (PCBs) in Vermont Schools

Widespread polychlorinated biphenyl (PCB) contamination was discovered in Burlington High School in 2018 – 2020 prompting the school to close and relocate into a vacant department store. PCBs were commonly used in building materials, such as paint, adhesives, caulking, and fluorescent light ballasts, in school buildings constructed between 1950 and 1979, when the manufacture and use of PCBs was banned in the United States.

Site Investigation at Putney Paper Mill

Development of the Putney Paper Company property for paper manufacturing began in 1818. The property has been the subject of environmental assessment and management for over 26 years (Sites Management Section [SMS] Site #94-1605; Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Information System [CERCLIS] Site VTD001087188).
