    Vermont Transportation Flood Resilience Planning Tool Receives Awards

    Stone was honored to have been awarded both the GIS & Data Science Project of the Year from the Vermont Center for Geographic Information, and the American Council of Engineering Companies of Vermont (ACEC/VT) Grand Award for our part in the Methods and Tools for Transportation Resilience in Vermont project. In collaboration with Fitzgerald Environmental, DuBois & King, and Smart Mobility, Stone created a web-based application that identifies bridges, culverts, and road embankments within watersheds that are vulnerable to flood damage, estimates the risk to those features, and offers mitigation measures. The application is available through a variety of web-browsers and devices for free use.

    City Market Receives Vermont Governor’s Award for Environmental Excellence for its Brownfield Redevelopment Project

    We were honored to join City Market last week as they received the prestigious Vermont Governor’s Award for Environmental Excellence for their South End Expansion Project in Burlington, Vermont. The award, announced annually since 1993, recognizes the efforts and actions of Vermont individuals, businesses and organizations to conserve and protect natural resources, prevent pollution, and promote environmental sustainability. We are proud to be part of this project and look forward to joining City Market with its grand opening later this year.

    Announcing a Transition at Stone

    On behalf of Stone Environmental’s Board of Directors, we are pleased to the announce the appointment of John Hanzas as President and Michael Winchell as Vice President. While stepping down from their current executive positions, Founder and President, Christopher Stone and Vice President, David Healy, will remain at Stone as senior executive and technical consultants, as well as continue to serve on the Board of Directors. All of these changes will become effective July 1, 2017.

    Meet Our New Pollinator Expert!

    We're excited to announce that Leif Richardson, Ph.D. has joined the Stone team as a Senior Ecologist, bringing with him over 15 years of experience in diverse aspects of applied ecological and environmental science, including research on impacts of diet chemistry on bees and effects of land management practices on crop pollination by managed and wild bee pollinators.
